Welcoming the Darkness: 90 minute candlelight yin + reflection

October 23, 2025 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm
$25

As much as I love the cooler temperatures and lingering autumn sunshine, the decreasing hours of daylight each October are accompanied by a bit (ok, a lot) of dread; with each passing year I seem to feel the weight of the darkness a little more. When it comes to the long, dark months here in the Pacific Northwest, I confess I have been living from a place of resignation. What might it be like, I’ve been wondering, to consent and actively welcome the darkness?

Christine Vaulters Paintner writes, “Honoring the flowering of spring and the fruitfulness of summer, alongside the release of autumn and the stillness of winter, cultivates a way of being in the world that feels deeply reverential of my body and soul’s own natural cycles. We live in a culture that glorifies spring and summer energies, but autumn and winter are just as essential for rhythms of release, rest, and incubation.”

Let’s honor the rhythm of the shifting season together.

Restorative yin is a subtle yoga practice, intended to support the body so the muscles can relax, accessing and releasing the deeper tissues beneath. Additionally, yin helps reset the nervous system, ushering participants into a state of rest and digest.

I invite you to join me on Thursday, October 23rd at 7pm for 90 minutes of this restorative practice. Candlelight, gentle instruction, with silence and reflection prompts woven throughout will create an evening of intentional care for each participant, body, mind, and soul.
