Soothe: A Spiritual Directors’ Retreat

This year’s retreat theme, Soothe, comes from the desire to offer a place of soothing for all spiritual directors (and directors in training) who have been offering soul care and deep listening in one of the more chaotic and painful times in our lifetimes. This will be a time of rest, connection, and care. We will again be offering half-price at retreat massages, as well as creative activities, times of prayer, and teaching. This year’s guest facilitator will be Kim Isaak of Keeping Company and Restoration Ministries. Kim is a spiritual director, pastor, supervisor, and a certified instructor of Inner Relationship Focusing. I (Tara) have had the gift of learning the profound practices of inner relationship focusing more deeply with Kim for a few years now, and both IRF and Kim’s tender, open presence have shifted and expanded my capacity to be with whatever is happening within me in such a way that allows compassion, connection, care, and the presence of God to bring healing in areas that we previously intractable or inaccessible.

Kim’s teachings will resource you as a spiritual director to be able to offer yourself the kind of loving presence that sometimes feels so far away. This form of self-care is a vital cornerstone of the ministry of spiritual direction and I believe the kind of practice that we deeply need as holy listeners in this particular moment.

There are both double and single room options available on a first come, first served basis. We’ve done our best (as has Kim, our speaker) to keep costs down and make this accessible to as many as possible, but do let us know if finances are an issue. We also know that this is the first full weekend of Advent (sorry!), but we believe it might just be the kind of preparation for this new season that your soul needs.
