Contemplative Prayer:
a collective space
of contemplation and prayer
in the weeks leading up to the election
As we come up on one of the most charged elections in recent memory, there is so much (too much, perhaps) coming up in our souls. We are finding that many of us are hunkering down, waiting it out, perhaps even avoiding the fears and frustrations (and hope!) that a season like this engenders.
As spiritual directors, we want to make space for that, for ourselves and others. To come together—no matter who we are or what we think about when it comes to politics—and hold space for the realities of our lives and our country in the weeks leading up to the election.
These gatherings will not be a space for conversation or discussion but simply being together in contemplative prayer—even if we differ widely in our opinions (and we likely will). Hosted by spiritual directors Annalise Hume, Elizabeth Peterson, and Jamie Bonilla, our 30-minute gatherings will begin and end with a brief, facilitated spiritual practice, framing a quiet space of contemplation, trusting that in the mystery of what happens in prayer, there is movement.
So, if you have found yourself hunkering down but have been wondering how else you might respond, or if you have been longing for a spacious way to come to this difficult-to-navigate season, we’d love to have you join us (for either or both); no cost, simply a collective space offered.
Sunday, October 20th – 5 pm Pacific/8 pm Eastern
