I’m sure this is no surprise to any of us\, as leadership often feels tiring\, isolating\, and lonely. \nIn an attempt to make space for clergy & ministry leaders\, spiritual director & pastor Holly Porter Phillips will be offering spiritual direction groups this summer. Groups of 4-6 attendees will meet together (via zoom) to bear witness to the workings of God in their own lives and those in the group. Each hour-and-a-half session will include a guided time of centering\, time for sharing\, silence\, and prayer. DESCRIPTION:The Ignatian Exercises are a deeply transformative journey\, used for centuries by followers of Jesus who desire to walk more closely with Him. Experiencing the Ignatian Exercises with your spouse is an opportunity to cultivate spiritual intimacy with one another as well as to deepen your own connection to Jesus. \nThe Ignatian Exercises include daily prayer and scripture meditations and the daily Examen. DESCRIPTION:Renovate: Tools\, Support and Skills for Refreshing your Spiritual Direction Practice \n\n\nRenovate is a yearlong cohort for trained spiritual directors who are looking for additional training\, tools\, and support for their practice. Led by Anam Cara trained spiritual directors and supervisors\, Rachel Reed and Jeremy Frye\, this year long training includes monthly online training modules\,gathering for praxis\, as well as small group supervision. \nOver the course of the year we will take time to define spiritual direction\, discuss the role of supervision in the practice of spiritual direction\, learn and practice helpful (or practical) skills\, look at ethical dilemmas and relational roles\, explore what it means to be a non-manipulative presence and approach the topic that nearly all of us are uncomfortable with; the business of your spiritual direction practice. \n\n\nCohort is limited to 20 participants. \nHere’s what past participants are saying about Renovate: \n\n “Renovate has been a wonderful year of “continuing education” for my spiritual direction practice. All too often we run from day to day\, appointment to appointment\, and miss the beautiful picture God is crafting with our lives. This is your invitation to rest and notice the threads of God’s love in your life and how they are weaving together a larger work of art\, your life. \nUsing variations of the Examen prayer\, this monthly gathering invites you to look back on the previous month in a reflective posture\, looking for the footprints of God in your everyday life. Together\, we will engage questions like\, \n“How has God loved me in the last month?”\n“What elements of my life were lifegiving?”\n“Are there areas I’m struggling with or where I sense love was missing?” \nThere will be ample time for quiet reflection and conversation with God around these questions. At the end of our time\, we will notice any invitations as we turn our gaze to the month ahead. \nYou may be surprised at the clarity of insight and direction that can come after this kind of reflection. DESCRIPTION:Renovate: Tools\, Support and Skills for Refreshing your Spiritual Direction Practice \n\n\nRenovate is a yearlong cohort for trained spiritual directors who are looking for additional training\, tools\, and support for their practice. Led by Anam Cara trained spiritual directors and supervisors\, Rachel Reed and Jeremy Frye\, this year long training includes monthly online training modules\,gathering for praxis\, as well as small group supervision. \nOver the course of the year we will take time to define spiritual direction\, discuss the role of supervision in the practice of spiritual direction\, learn and practice helpful (or practical) skills\, look at ethical dilemmas and relational roles\, explore what it means to be a non-manipulative presence and approach the topic that nearly all of us are uncomfortable with; the business of your spiritual direction practice. \n\n\nCohort is limited to 20 participants. \nHere’s what past participants are saying about Renovate: \n\n “Renovate has been a wonderful year of “continuing education” for my spiritual direction practice. All too often we run from day to day\, appointment to appointment\, and miss the beautiful picture God is crafting with our lives. This is your invitation to rest and notice the threads of God’s love in your life and how they are weaving together a larger work of art\, your life. \nUsing variations of the Examen prayer\, this monthly gathering invites you to look back on the previous month in a reflective posture\, looking for the footprints of God in your everyday life. Together\, we will engage questions like\, \n“How has God loved me in the last month?”\n“What elements of my life were lifegiving?”\n“Are there areas I’m struggling with or where I sense love was missing?” \nThere will be ample time for quiet reflection and conversation with God around these questions. At the end of our time\, we will notice any invitations as we turn our gaze to the month ahead. \nYou may be surprised at the clarity of insight and direction that can come after this kind of reflection. Through regular reflection on how God is actively working in our lives\, we can begin discern with greater clarity our next steps.
