DESCRIPTION:Tobar An Anama: Soothe\n\n \nThursday\, December 4-7\, 2025 • Colorado Springs\, CO\n\nThis year’s retreat theme\, Soothe\, comes from the desire to offer a place of soothing for all spiritual directors (and directors in training) who have been offering soul care and deep listening in one of the more chaotic and painful times in our lifetimes. This will be a time of rest\, connection\, and care. We will again be offering half-price at retreat massages\, as well as creative activities\, times of prayer\, and teaching. This year’s guest facilitator will be Kim Isaak of Keeping Company and Restoration Ministries. Kim is a spiritual director\, pastor\, supervisor\, and a certified instructor of Inner Relationship Focusing. I (Tara) have had the gift of learning the profound practices of inner relationship focusing more deeply with Kim for a few years now\, and both IRF and Kim’s tender\, open presence have shifted and expanded my capacity to be with whatever is happening within me in such a way that allows compassion\, connection\, care\, and the presence of God to bring healing in areas that we previously intractable or inaccessible.\n\nKim’s teachings will resource you as a spiritual director to be able to offer yourself the kind of loving presence that sometimes feels so far away. This form of self-care is a vital cornerstone of the ministry of spiritual direction and I believe the kind of practice that we deeply need as holy listeners in this particular moment.\n\nThere are both double and single room options available on a first come\, first served basis. We’ve done our best (as has Kim\, our speaker) to keep costs down and make this accessible to as many as possible\, but do let us know if finances are an issue. Led by Anam Cara trained spiritual directors and supervisors\, Rachel Reed and Jeremy Frye\, this year long training includes monthly online training modules\,gathering for praxis\, as well as small group supervision. \nOver the course of the year we will take time to define spiritual direction\, discuss the role of supervision in the practice of spiritual direction\, learn and practice helpful (or practical) skills\, look at ethical dilemmas and relational roles\, explore what it means to be a non-manipulative presence and approach the topic that nearly all of us are uncomfortable with; the business of your spiritual direction practice. \n\n\nCohort is limited to 20 participants. \nHere’s what past participants are saying about Renovate: \n\n “Renovate has been a wonderful year of “continuing education” for my spiritual direction practice. When it comes to the long\, dark months here in the Pacific Northwest\, I confess I have been living from a place of resignation. What might it be like\, I’ve been wondering\, to consent and actively welcome the darkness? \nChristine Vaulters Paintner writes\, “Honoring the flowering of spring and the fruitfulness of summer\, alongside the release of autumn and the stillness of winter\, cultivates a way of being in the world that feels deeply reverential of my body and soul’s own natural cycles. SUMMARY:An Inner Journey towards God with The Ignatian Spiritual Exercises
DESCRIPTION:The Ignatian Spiritual Exercises are a 9-month journey of discovery – a deep dive into the internal workings of your heart and life\, a deeper discovery of who Jesus is\, and often\, a deeper understanding of how the desires within your own heart might illuminate the way you want to live this one glorious life with God. \nAlong the way\, you will be encouraged to embrace the depth of God’s love for you and deepen your friendship with the Living Jesus as you come to see his nature and nurture with the people around him. \nOver the nine-month journey there is intent towards daily engagement with the prayer materials (40 – 60 minutes each day). As a prayer pilgrimage that is a retreat-in-daily-life\, there will be the ups and downs of life\, visitors\, interruptions\, travel\, so the hope is towards 5 hours of prayer each week. \nAdditionaly the time committment involves nine\, 1.5 – 2.5 hour group sessions (length of time varies depending on number of participants\, not to exceed 8) via Zoom\, preparation for each theme by viewing nine video teachings by Bill Zuelke of Soul Formation prior to our group meeting (approx 1 hour each)\, and nine (up to 13) individual spiritual direction sessions via Zoom with me (approx 45 minutes – 60 minutes) spaced between the group sessions. The group is kept small so we can have a meaningful conversation and you can feel seen and heard. \nFlexible Access: Can’t make the live session?
