SUMMARY:A Companioned Prayer Journey Immersing in God's Love; 9 months with the Ignatian Exercises
DESCRIPTION:Over 500 years\, thousands of people across various denominations have discovered the enduring treasure and beauty of the Ignatian Exercises. Just as exercise is meant to strengthen the body\, Ignatius of Loyola developed these prayer practices to strengthen our spiritual life and help us deepen our relationship with God. A significant way we explore God’s love is by walking closely with Jesus to see the heart of God for us and the human family. We pray through the life of Jesus\, a companion with Jesus in His story: His birth at Christmas\, His ministry and miracles\, the passion at Easter\, and His resurrection. In the journey\, we discover God’s heart for us and our invitation to be with Jesus for the world. While much of our prayer time is spent with the scriptures\, this is not a Bible study or an undertaking of analyzing historical events\, but the entering into the scriptures as a living experience with the Living God.\n\nThis heart-and-soul deep dive towards Jesus is an intentionally designed prayer pilgrimage that undertakes a significant investment of time and commitment to engage. There is daily engagement with the prayer materials involving at least 5 hours of prayer each week (40 – 60 minutes each day for 9 months). Additionally\, there are nine\, 2.5-hour group sessions via Zoom over the nine-month journey; preparations for each theme by viewing nine video teachings\, approximately 1 hour\, by Bill Zuelke of Soul Formation prior to our group sessions; and nine one-on-one spiritual direction sessions via Zoom with me which are spaced between the group sessions. You can expect to be present either in a group session or one-on-one with me about every two weeks.\n \nThe Group Sessions are likely to be Tuesday evening\, 6-8:30pm MTN\, to avoid impacting typical work hours. If the group members unanimously determine a time shift would be better on Tuesday\, the time could shift. Group Sessions on Sept 26\, Oct 10\, Nov 7\, Dec 5 & 19\, Jan 16\, Feb 20\, Apr 2\, and May 7. \n\nCost $1485: a $300 deposit reserves your place on the prayer pilgrimage. Remaining balance may be paid monthly.

SUMMARY:Exploring God's Love for You; Preparation and Discernment for the Ignatian Exercises
DESCRIPTION:The Ignatian Exercises is a significant commitment in time: 5 – 7 hours of prayer each week\, a 9 month journey with a cohort that will meet nine times + 9 hours of video teaching in preparation for the cohort\, and nine individual spiritual direction sessions. While thousands of people have undertaken the Spiritual Exercises\, this discernment process is designed to help you discern the space and desire for engaging in this prayer pilgrimage.\n\nThis individual discernment process opens July 1 and is available to begin  through Sept 1.\nOver a four to six week period\, “Exploring God’s Love for You” will invite you into the practice and rhythm of praying with the structure of the Ignatian Exercises. Through one-on-once conversation\, we will contemplate your experience of the scriptures and prayer structure to discern if this fits within your current life rhythms and soul desires. Cost includes prayer materials\, and 3-4 exploratory/discernment conversations. Cost $150.\n(For those deciding to proceed with the Ignatian Exercises\, the cost of this discernment process will roll forward to cover half of your deposit for the Exercises. SUMMARY:A Different Attention: Gestures in Spiritual Direction
DESCRIPTION:We often think of spiritual direction as an interplay between words and silence\, but words and silence are not the only communicative registers connecting the director\, the directee\, and God.  Hands also connect us.  Eyes.  Tears.  In this workshop\, we’ll examine a handful of the bodily gestures–various gesticulations of the hand\, dartings of the eye\, tiltings of the head–that both directors and directees employ\, often unconsciously.  We will consider:\n\n*how these gestures surface in the Bible\n*what current-day social science suggests about what various gestures reveal about the gesture\n*what gestures we might want to intentionally adopt as part of our direction practice\n*how we can receive gestures as part and parcel of the communing that occurs in spiritual direction\n\nIf you plan to attend the workshop and you have the attention-space to do so between now and then\, please begin to notice gestures around you – both in direction\, and in the rest of life.
